The Holidays in New York City

The holidays, a few blocks

south of the tree

Around the holidays, NoMad and Flatiron put their own spin on the season, and Hotel Park Ave NYC sits close enough to the mainstays and closer to everything else.

Here are some of our favorite spots for all of the festive feels.

The neighborhood,

dressed for December

NoMad and Flatiron do the holidays without needing a crowd to do it.

The trees along Madison Square Park get strung with lights through the new year. A quick five minute walk from our lobby, best seen after dark and always worth the detour.

The holiday market sets up on the sidewalk at Eataly Flatiron, a few minutes on foot. Mulled wine, ornaments and an excuse to take a stroll before dinner.

The design stores and studios along Broadway do their own windows, quietly. Fewer people stop to look, which is part of the point.

YOUR HOLIDAY, ON FILM

The photos worth keeping rarely happen on request. Stay at Hotel Park Ave NYC where a Lola camera awaits your arrival along with a map to find the corners of the neighborhood actually worth shooting, not the ones everyone already has.

Holiday Dining

Thanksgiving

at Park Rose

This Thanksgiving, Park Rose is serving a prix fixe available Thursday, November 26, from 12pm to 9:30pm. $95 per person.

Prefer something lighter? The bar will offer an à la carte menu with Thanksgiving classics and some Park Rose favorites.

The Feast of the Seven Fishes at Park Rose

Christmas Eve and Christmas Day | 4pm-10pm

An Italian-American tradition, done the Park Rose way. Seven courses, each with something from the sea, and no reason to rush any of them.

It starts with garlic bread and roasted peppers, layered with bottarga, sun-dried tomato pesto, stracciatella and pink peppercorns. Then an insalata di mare, followed by oysters casino baked with pancetta and peppers.

The middle of the meal is where people settle in: smoked clam pizza, Atlantic salmon with Oscietra caviar and spicy lobster rigatoni in 'nduja garlic cream.

Scallops a la plancha close things out, with scallion gremolata and celery root. A festive wine pairing is available for an additional $65 per person.

The classics, on your own schedule

The Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree lit with multicolored lights and topped with a bright star, surrounded by holiday angel decorations and crowds in Midtown Manhattan, New York City.

Four stops on the 6 train, or a walk if the night is clear. For an evening that is classically Manhattan.

Holiday lights decorating the Saks Fifth Avenue storefront in New York City, featuring the iconic illuminated “Saks” sign and festive garlands covering the building’s entrance.

The windows along Fifth Avenue

Further uptown, better after dark, still worth the trip. Go on a weeknight if you can. The crowds thin out faster than people expect. And don't miss out on the Saks Fifth Avenue light show.

Bryant Park's Winter Village

Skating rink, market stalls, a straight shot up on the 6. Take your Hotel Park Ave tote.

Union Square Holiday Market

Just a short walk away, or three stops on the 6 train. A little quieter than the big holiday markets, and an easy place to spend an afternoon browsing.
